Beat The Summer Heat

Heading out for a summer break? While you enjoy summer sun and your vacation, how do you keep your skin glowing and healthy? Though the sun may bring warmth, over exposure can harm your skin and hair in the long run. Don’t worry, here’s the list of summer must-do’s that shall keep your skin and hair woes at bay:

Get sun-protected:

 1

A sunscreen with an SPF of 15 is well-suited for all Indian skin types. However, ensure that your sunscreen provides you with a balance of both UVA and UVB protection. Apply every 2-3 hours for effective results, especially after excessive sweating and exposure to water.

Stay hydrated:

 2

Drink a lot of water, tender coconut, buttermilk and fresh juices to stay hydrated. Not all fluids help in keeping you hydrated, try and avoid caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee and coke tend to cause dehydration.

Hair Cleansing:

1

In summers, due to heat, sweat and dust your hair needs frequent cleansing. Ensure you use herbal shampoo and conditioner, as they are mild on your scalp and hair.

Avoid makeup meltdown:

3

Exfoliate your skin before applying makeup, this helps remove dead cells and allows the makeup to stay longer, as exfoliation makes your skin surface smooth. Try light makeup base to avoid sweating. Look out for a scrub with herbal ingredients like Apricot and Wheatgerm, it would be gentle on your skin.

Summer must-have:

V-Day Tip: A DIY scrub early morning with almond oil and sugar crystals will ensure your lips are smooth and supple throughout the day.

V-Day Tip:Remove the face pack after 10 minutes to retain your skin’s natural moisture

3. Bring Hair Alive– Try a DIY home spa, a day before Valentine’s Day. Massage your scalp with a herbal hair oil followed by a warm towel wrap. It helps the oil penetrate deeper into your hair for extra nourishment. Wash your hair with herbal shampoo and conditioner to remove the oil. End this routine with herbal hair cream on your scalp and strands of your hair. Massage gently and wash it off after 15 minutes.

V-Day Tip: Moisturize your strands with a herbal detangler. It will add shine and smoothness to rough and brittle hair.

4. Define your eyes naturally- Keep your eyes hydrated with a herbal kajal. Apply it gently on your eyelid for bright and attractive eyes.

V-Day Tip: Dust some powder under your eye skin before applying the Kajal, it helps in absorbing excess oil.

5. The Purest Feeling– You wouldn’t want flaky skin to upset your mood. Use a creamy lotion to moisturize your skin from head to toe.

V-Day Tip: Treat your skin to a luxurious body lotion immediately after bathing. Your skin will absorb the lotion faster and stay moisturized for long.

6. Sparkling Smile – Nothing can beat a sparkling white smile, especially on occasions like this. It showcases confidence, positive attitude and happiness.

V-Day Tip:A non-chemical bleach toothpaste with natural enzymes will help you get whiter teeth. Enzymes present in Papaya called papain and in Pineapple called bromelain act as mild whitening agents that safely remove stains, making them sparkling white.

Compliment your perfect look with a fresh floral scent. The fragrance is sure to make your moment perfect!

Himalaya Herbals Anti-Hairfall Hair Oil Review

Hello everyone! Summer brings a myriad of hair problems for me with hair fall topping the list. Though I do not use hair oil on a regular basis except hot oil therapy once or twice a week. My mom always says that nothing could be better for your hair than using hair oil. She gifted me a bottle of Himalaya Herbal Hair Oil right before my exams last year so that I could concentrate more :p.

???????????????????????????????

So, I have used it for quite sometime now. Read on to know if it is as effective as it claims.

Price: INR 100 for 100ml

Ingredients: As mentioned at the back of the bottle

???????????????????????????????

What The Product Claims?: Anti hair-fall hair oil prevents hair fall and stimulates hair growth. Contains bhringaraja and amalaki, proven hair growth promoters. Methi, which is rich in lecithin and proteins that nourish the hair roots. Neem and bilva prevent scalp infections and keep hair healthy. A non-sticky oil that could be applied daily. Hypoallergenic. No harmful chemicals. Store in a cool and dry place.

Method Of Use?:Apply oil on hair and scalp and gently massage, leave overnight. For best results wash with Himalaya Herbals anti-hair fall shampoo.

My Take On The Product: This hair oil from Himalaya Herbals comes in a transparent packaging with a dark green flip cap like every Himalaya Herbals product. The packaging is sleek and sturdy.

I carried this oil in my bag twice and both the times I have seen some amount of the oil oozed out. I’m not sure if it’s only with my bottle or if the packaging is not travel friendly in general.

???????????????????????????????

Coming to the color and texture, the oil is transparent with perfect consistency. The smell is pleasant and not very strong. I have used this oil for over 6 months now and am using my second bottle now. I use it twice a week at night before going to bed and wash off with my shampoo next morning. This oil does not feel sticky on my hair and is quite light weight too.

???????????????????????????????

Yes, it did help to cut my hair fall but not noticeably. I haven’t noticed my hair growth till now but it has reduced my hair dryness. The amount of hair fall I faced last summer was much more than now.

???????????????????????????????

But I’m still searching for my HG hair oil. Overall this is a decent product at this price and I can suggest everyone to give it a try, who knows, it might work for you!

Pros: 1. Inexpensive

2. Pleasant fragrance

3. Non sticky

Cons: 1. Packaging is not travel friendly

2. Won’t work if you have major hair fall problem.

My Rating: 3.5/5

Will I Repurchase It?: Yes, until I find something better……….

Can you suggest me a good, lightweight hair oil to stop my hair fall problem in summer?
